Dom Pang - Bio

Dom Pang has been DJing in Australia and Japan for the past 10 years mainly under the moniker 'Echowarrior'. He is the founder of Audio Warriors United, a crew of Australian and Japanese DJs who run underground parties in Melbourne and Osaka. Musically trained as a guitarist, his influences range from punk and metal to dub and new romantic. Since witnessing the one and only Jeff Mills play in London in 1994 he traded the 6-string for some decks and set about searching for the perfect tekno bass line via the sacred medium of vinyl. While the pursuit continues, Dom Pang has diversified his tastes in electronica joining Australian Drum and Bass and Hardcore sound systems AKA and Dysfunkt in addition to guesting with other tekno rigs and running his own projects. Regardless of which genre he is spinning, his sets are characterised by diverse track selections, sharp mixing and, of course, lots of funked-up bass!
Currently Dom Pang is running a series of minimal tekno parties called CODA deep in the heart of Osaka. He aims to promote a party culture that has nothing to do with money and everything to do with the music, the people who come to enjoy it and the power of a creative, temporary autonomous zone.

Karla Houser - Bio

Born in Windsor, Canada, Karla was exposed to the unique music culture shared by Windsor and neighbouring Detroit, USA. She developed a taste for techno, house and idm on the dance floors and house parties in both Windsor and Detroit in the late 90's.  After 2001, security increased across the border cities and fundamentally impacted the dance music scene.  With fewer opportunities to hear new sounds and local dj's taking their talent further afield, Karla began to promote the music she loves with a weekly radio program on CJAM campus community radio.  She started to collect records at this time and also sought out the fresh new sounds coming from Europe in an effort to keep quality electronic music accessible in Windsor.  In 2003 she moved to Amsterdam, NL to attend the University of Amsterdam.  In Amsterdam she encountered a refreshingly open and celebrated electronic music scene that wasn't affected by borders.  There she continued digging and djing in bars, clubs and coffee shops while experiencing great dance floors across Europe.  After accepting a job in Osaka, she moved to Japan in 2007,  further broadening her contacts and musical experiences.  Karla's sound is unmistakeably deep, combining elements of house, techno and minimal aimed at affecting both the individual listener and dancefloors alike.

HEADFULL (Jamie) - Bio

Jamie is an artist / designer originally from the UK. After completing his MA in Sculpture at the RCA, London, Jamie came to Japan with the intention of visiting for only a few weeks. Massively inspired by Japanese culture and people, he never quite made it home again, and now lives and works in Nara as a freelance designer, www.headfull.co.uk

In his artwork, Jamie tries to engages his audience physically, making them collaborators. Interactive installations created for CODA include...

"Headfull of Dreams"
Cables can be plugged into the back of the sculpture's skull, enabling the guests to sample the sculpture's dreams, which are projected in the club.

"Gurning"
A high speed camera filmed guests faces in slow motion while they gurned (the art of making strange faces). This personal and comically engaging footage was projected live in the club.

"Love / Hate"
Guest's photos are entered into the game. Throughout the night, random faces appear in the club visuals. By using a Wii remote, guests can "kiss" or "punch" the faces of other guests, creating a popularity tally for all guests. The most "loved" and "hated" guests receive prizes at the end of the night.
