About CODA
CODA is a concept designed to promote the Underground Electronic scene in Osaka, by bringing local Japanese and foreign artists together for the love of quality electronic music, and good parties. Bringing the rave spirit to Osaka, CODA parties are always an eventful mix of rave, party, and the temporary autonomous zone.
CODA is a term that refers to the end of piece of music or song which then returns to another point in the song / track, much like techno and most other forms of electronic music. Electronic music bases itself around repetition and subtle change. It’s the DJs responsibility to engineer an evolution in the music for the listener, as if the audience where riding on a train bound for a place between ordered reality and a place of imagination generated by the slowly changing scenery of the music and it’s repetitive beat. Like the music, CODA understands that that our story is evolving over time and that it draws from one of the most primal, archetypical themes in the human experience – the use of repetitive beats intended to induce a positive change of mind, be it meditative or ecstatic.
As such we are not driven by commercialism or current trends but rather by the force of creativity and the desire to bring quality music, visuals and performance to an often unsuspecting audience. We want to bring the underground scene to the surface and then re-submerge it again, claiming a wider audience as we go.
We also try and ensure the following happens at our parties:
• Keep the parties as cheap as possible
• Run free parties when possible
• That there are no boundaries to expression – the only rule being that you can not limit anyone else’s opportunity to do the same by being violent, abusive or aggressive.
• We encourage lots of interactivity with the audience
• Always give away free music such as DJ mixes to punters to promote new sounds, up-coming DJs and the spirit of being part of a sub-culture.
